Presents Research on Bacillus coagulans IDCC 1201 at International Microbiome Conference ILDONG Bioscience (CEO: Ban Oh-hyun), the health functional food subsidiary of the ILDONG Pharmaceutical Group, has received the Best Poster Award at the International Scientific Conference on Probiotics, Prebiotics, Gut Microbiota and Health (IPC 2026) for its research on a probiotic strain that improves sleep quality. IPC is a globally recognized scientific conference focused on the relationship between the microbiome and human health. The conference provides a platform for researchers and industry experts to share the latest scientific findings and technological advancements in probiotics, prebiotics, gut microbiota, and related fields. This year's event was held in Kraków, Poland, from June 22 to 24, 2026. At the conference, ILDONG Bioscience presented a poster highlighting the efficacy and safety of its proprietary probiotic strain, Bacillus coagulans IDCC 1201, in improving sleep quality. The study attracted significant attention from researchers and industry professionals and was recognized with the conference's Best Poster Award. The clinical trial was conducted as a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving adults experiencing sleep disturbances. Participants consumed IDCC 1201 for four weeks, and researchers evaluated its effects using both objective sleep measurements and subjective assessments of sleep quality. According to the study, polysomnography (PSG) demonstrated significant physiological improvements after supplementation with IDCC 1201. Sleep efficiency increased by more than 13%, while total sleep time increased by approximately 50 minutes, indicating that participants spent a greater proportion of their time in bed actually sleeping. The study also found significant reductions in wake after sleep onset (WASO) and total wake time, suggesting that IDCC 1201 helped maintain more continuous and stable sleep throughout the night. Subjective sleep quality was evaluated using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), which assesses multiple aspects of sleep, including sleep duration, sleep latency, sleep quality, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances, use of sleep medication, and daytime dysfunction. Participants receiving IDCC 1201 showed statistically significant improvements across these measures compared with the placebo group. "We are honored that our research has been recognized at a prestigious international scientific conference," said an ILDONG Bioscience representative. "This award demonstrates the global competitiveness of our R&D capabilities and proprietary probiotic technologies. We will continue to accelerate follow-up research and commercialization of IDCC 1201." Established in 2016, ILDONG Bioscience specializes in probiotics and health functional ingredients. The company possesses a proprietary strain library of more than 5,000 microbial strains, supported by numerous patents and proprietary technologies.
