Ildong Pharmaceutical Group Chairman Won-young Yun Receives 'Korea Pharmaceutical Industry Award'

Recognized for Contributions to Public Health and the Development and Elevated Status of the Pharmaceutical Industry

Won-young Yun, Chairman of Ildong Holdings and second-generation founder of Ildong Pharmaceutical Group, has received the 'Korea Pharmaceutical Industry Award' in recognition of his contributions to the development and enhanced competitiveness of South Korea's pharmaceutical industry.

The 'Korea Pharmaceutical Industry Award' is a commendation program jointly operated by three organizations — △the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association △the Korean Pharmacists Association △the Korea Pharmaceutical Traders Association — which select and honor individuals or organizations that have contributed to the advancement of the pharmaceutical industry and the improvement of public health across respective categories.

Chairman Yun was named this year's recipient in the Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma category at an awards ceremony held as part of the 81st Regular General Assembly at the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 24th.

Chairman Yun majored in pharmacy at Chung-Ang University College of Pharmacy and took his first steps in the industry when he joined Ildong Pharmaceutical in 1964. After rising to the position of President and CEO of Ildong Pharmaceutical in 1976, he placed trust and quality as his foremost values and laid the groundwork for the company's growth into a major pharmaceutical company through the expansion of research and development capabilities and the modernization of manufacturing infrastructure.

In particular, he led the company's growth and advancement by establishing a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical production and supply system, including the completion of a large-scale KGMP (Korea Good Manufacturing Practice) facility in Anseong, Gyeonggi-do in 1987 and the acquisition of KGMP certification across all dosage forms.

He also contributed to the development and elevated standing of South Korea's pharmaceutical industry by supplying superior therapeutics to the medical market through improvements in pharmaceutical formulation and synthesis technologies and the strengthening of new drug research and development, while expanding partnerships with global pharmaceutical companies.

Chairman Yun also devoted attention to fulfilling his social responsibilities as a business leader. He served for many years as Chairman of the 'Songpa Foundation' — Ildong Pharmaceutical Group's scholarship foundation established in 1994 — consistently working to encourage academic pursuits among students and nurture talented individuals.

At the awards ceremony, Chairman Won-young Yun shared his acceptance remarks, stating, "This award is not one I receive as an individual, but one I share together with all the pharmaceutical industry colleagues who have walked this path alongside me. I extend my deepest gratitude to all members of the industry."
